Description

Mechanical verification of a Crude Oil Filter pressure vessel under ASME Section VIII Div. 1, evaluated across three critical scenarios: design condition (29.9 kg/cm² @ 80°C), full vacuum @ 80°C, and steam-out cleaning condition (atmospheric @ 238°C). Since the 14″-300# nozzles A and B exceeded the maximum geometric ratio permitted by WRC 107, a dedicated FEA model was developed and verified under ASME VIII Div. 2, Class 1 (Parts 5.2 and 5.3.2) for localized stress analysis. Results confirmed the equipment, with minor nozzle adjustments, presents no design deficiencies even under the maximum corroded condition, with all components remaining within code-allowable stress limits — demonstrating the team’s ability to combine multiple ASME divisions and advanced FEA methods to resolve non-standard, large-diameter nozzle configurations beyond conventional calculation tools.
