Description
The project consisted of the analysis of a gas muffler for a reciprocating compressor. The static calculation was carried out to define the thicknesses for sustained loads. Likewise, due to the cyclical pressure conditions in the exhaust gases (21,900 cycles, 0 – 1.6 barg, 200º C), its fatigue resistance was analyzed by means of FEA for a lifespan of 20 years.
The static calculation was performed according to the ASME VIII Div.1 code, whereas the fatigue verification was carried out as per the ASME VIII Div.2 code.
